How does the QE Barnet 11+ work?

Queen Elizabeth's School ranks candidates on their combined standardised score across two GL Assessment papers, mathematics and English, and makes offers in rank order. There is no fixed pass mark published in advance, because the threshold moves each year with the applicant field. So we prepare children for accuracy and speed under timed conditions rather than aiming at one number.

How does the Henrietta Barnett School 11+ two-stage process work?

Stage 1 is a multiple choice filter in verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and English. Candidates who go through then sit Stage 2, which tests creative writing, comprehension and multi-step maths. We prepare children for both stages.

How do the Tiffin School and Tiffin Girls' School exams work?

Stage 1 is a multiple choice filtering test in English and maths. Candidates who go through sit Stage 2, which has open-ended maths problem solving and an English comprehension and creative writing paper. Tiffin sets its own exams, so preparing for QE Barnet does not prepare your child for Tiffin.

Is one set of preparation enough for all three schools?

No. QE Barnet uses GL Assessment papers, while Henrietta Barnett and Tiffin each have their own second stage. On the admission call we ask which schools you are considering, then plan around those tests so your child is not practising the wrong paper.

When should my child start preparing?

Year 4 is a good time to build secure foundations in maths and verbal reasoning, with plenty of reading. In Year 5 we add exam technique and timed practice. Every child is different, so we talk through where yours is today on the admission call.

Are the classes online or in person?

Our 11+ classes for these schools are live and online, in small groups with 11+ specialists, with daily practice that adapts to your child. The admission call is a Zoom call.

Three London grammar schools. Three different tests.

EdifyPod prepares children in Year 4 and Year 5 for Queen Elizabeth's School (QE Barnet), Henrietta Barnett School and the Tiffin schools in Kingston. We run live online small-group classes with 11+ specialists, with daily practice that adapts to your child.

These schools do not share one test. QE Barnet uses GL Assessment papers in mathematics and English and makes offers in rank order. Henrietta Barnett has a multiple choice first stage, then a second stage with creative writing, comprehension and multi-step maths. Tiffin and Tiffin Girls' set their own two-stage exams.

The admission call is a Zoom call with four steps: you book, we hear about your child, we show you a bespoke plan, and if we can help, a place is there for you. There is no payment on this page.
